Company Profiles

You will need to write a profile for one of these companies each week. Each profile should be at least 200 words, or about one full double-spaced page, and will be worth 10 points. You do not need to apply APA format to these profiles, nor do you need to attach a cover page, but you will lose points for errors in spelling and grammar.

Here are some questions you may want to consider as you write your profiles:

  • How has the company changed the world?

  • When was the company founded, and what did they start out doing?

  • When did the company reach its peak?

  • Is the company still in business? What are they doing today?

  • Where is the company located? How many employees do they have?

  • What has the company contributed to the Era of Convergence, and what are they hoping to contribute in the future?

  • How has the company benefited from, or been hurt by, the "huge trends" and the conflicts that we've discussed?

  • Does the company make money, and if so, how? Is that likely to change in the future?

  • What strategic issues has the company faced, how did it handle them, and what have been the results?

I have hyperlinked each company's name to its Wikipedia entry, where possible. Please feel free to use Wikipedia as a starting point, but be careful of relying on it as your only resource.
