Biographies You need to choose one of these people each week, and write a biography for them. Each biography should be at least 200 words, or about one full double-spaced page, and will be worth 10 points. You do not need to apply APA format to these biographies, nor do you need to attach a cover page, but you will lose points for errors in spelling and grammar. Grading Rubric:
Insights and ideas that are germane to the assignment | Logic of organization and use of prescribed formats | Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are correct | Citations given for source material | | 5 points | 2 points | 2 points | 1 point |
Here are some questions you may want to consider as you write your biographies: How has this person changed the world? When did this person begin their career, and what did they start out doing? When did this person reach their professional peak, and what did they do to get there? Is this person still working? What are they doing today? What other people did this person know and work with? How has this person contributed to the Era of Convergence, and what are they hoping to contribute in the future? How has this person benefited from, or been hurt by, the "huge trends" and the conflicts that we've discussed?
I have hyperlinked each person's name to their Wikipedia entry. Please feel free to use Wikipedia as a starting point, but be careful of relying on it as your only resource. Anytime that you use information that someone else has written you need to reference your source. 1. Andrew Grove 2. Bill Gates 3. Bob Kahn 4. E. W. Dijkstra 5. Gordon Moore 6. Jack Kilby 7.
